Typical work activities are likely to include some or all of the following:

  • encouraging and acting upon critical feedback in the most appropriate manner;
  • liaising with publishers, agents, script editors, producers and directors;
  • finding and pursuing publication opportunities and staying positive and determined in the face of rejection;
  • maintaining a realistic knowledge of the publication market and the energy and enthusiasm needed to succeed;
  • attending courses and participating in workshops to improve and build upon writing skills;
  • appearing at public readings and book signings.

  • Write features as agreed
  • Thorough research of new destinations, hotels, tours, activities, etc.
  • Checking details of the topic
  • Create user-review feedback on featured hotels, restaurants, tours, activities as required

Essential skills, experience and abilities

  • Experience of writing, preferably for different types of media, e.g. web, book, magazine
  • Ability to write reviews and features in a descriptive but concise style
  • Internet savvy
  • Willingness to travel as required
Desirable skills, experience and abilities
  • Experience of writing for different types of media, e.g. web, book, magazine
  • Formal qualification in writing / journalism / English / Indonesia
  • Significant experience of independent travel in the specific region
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and writing for the web
